Product Features

Automated Auditing

Pathway incorporates a powerful auditing engine that can comprehensively audit hundreds of PCs per hour without affecting your network or PC performance.

Its function is to track and record all hardware, software and peripheral data so you don’t have to. Each time a user logs into the corporate network, be them on site or remote, their system is automatically audited and any differences to its configuration recorded.

With the risk of human error eliminated, the data collected is incredibly accurate, whilst the high costs associated with conducting the audit manually are also avoided.

Assets can be categorised into divisions, be it different rooms in the same building or different offices all over the world. 'Pathway' will automatically assign an imported hardware asset to a specific location based on an IP address template.

Such an accurate inventory of asset location means many technical issues can be resolved rapidly and offsite.

Change Management

Pathway offers dynamic change management. Through frequent scheduled inventories, changes to either software or hardware components will be automatically detected and highlighted as a systems’ change.

An alert is then forwarded to a designated administrator to notify him of the alteration that has occurred. The history of changes to IT assets are recorded and grouped into 6 categories: initial audit, hardware changed, hardware deleted, software added, software deleted and name changed.

This level of control enables you to actively enforce and then track standardisation across the enterprise, increasing the simplicity and manageability of your systems’ facilities.

In addition, this feature can be used for patch control as well as to ensure that everyone accessing the corporate network achieves a minimum level of security such as up-to-date anti-virus signatures.

IT Project Planning

Pathway provides a complete audit trail of all resources implemented, making it invaluable for forecasting and controlling IT costs. Performing a company wide deployment of a service patch for instance, can be achieved rapidly and cost-effectively with Pathway as you can use the inventory to identify which PCs meet the minimum specification and which actually need upgrading.

Non-perpetual licensing has become increasingly popular as more and more third party vendors offer extended warranties and higher levels of support contracts. Because Pathway tracks these contracts and their expiry, it is very simple to accurately forecast IT expenditure in the short, medium and long-term.

Pathway assigns all hardware warranties and software licenses an active, passive or decommissioned status. Decommissioning IT assets releases any unused licenses back into the license pool so you can rapidly ascertain those still available for application.

Support

Pathway provides the facility to log support calls directly into Oxygen or your support provider. This function can be carried out from the product detail screen so the user need only input the problem description, whilst fields such as the serial and support numbers are automatically populated.

When handling a support query, all you need is the PC serial number to access a thorough inventory of its configuration.

With this information at your fingertips, you can rapidly assess whether the system simply requires a hotfix, service patch or upgrade.

In conjunction with a knowledgebase such as the one in our helpdesk application 'Oxygen', you can easily check whether the problem has occurred previously and how it was remedied.

License and Warranty Management

Pathway enables you to track hardware, software, hardware support agreements and software support agreements across all office locations. A simple traffic light system provides layered notification of warranty and license expiry so you know exactly when renewal is required.

Notification is also supplied to a designated administrator in the form of e-mail alerts, the timings of which can be modified to suit your procurement process.

Build your own custom alerts to suit your specific requirements. For example, most companies set a base configuration to which all PCs in the organisation need to conform.
Alerts can be created to signal a system that fails to meet these minimum requirements. Similarly, it is essential that all software installations are monitored and tracked to ensure they effectively comply with their corresponding licensing regulations.
